Simon Bando – Creative Director and Founder
Simon established gohome in 2001 with the idea of developing products that highlight the innovation of Australian design.
With a 25 year background in import, export and manufacturing throughout the world, Simon brings a thorough understanding of the commercialisation of product design, concept visualisation and manufacturing to gohome.
With over 50 designs to his name, Simon steers his team to push the boundaries of innovation. Simon has also overseen numerous exclusive product ranges for some of Australia’s prominent retail organisations.
Ben McCarthy
Born and raised in Sydney, Ben graduated from Industrial Design from UNSW in 2004.
His talents were immediately recognised by the British Council who facilitated his move to the UK in 2005 where he worked for Tom Dixon.
In 2007 he relocated to Hong Kong and continues to be based there. Over the years, his designs have attracted several awards and grants, from the Australian Council, to a solo show at the Object Gallery in Sydney, and exhibitions in Tokyo, London and Milan.
The gohome relationship began at the start of 2004 with the ‘Gridlock’ stool and spanned several projects from accessories, to the award winning Launch Collection, and most recently the Hollywood Chairs
Marcel Sigel
Born in Australia, Marcel studied industrial design in Perth (Western Australia) before moving to Melbourne in 2004 to set up the multidisciplinary ‘zuii’ design studio. The studio quickly gained recognition, winning various local and international commissions across lighting, object, and furniture.
Following this success he received numerous awards including Wallpaper magazines ‘Best Young Designer’.
In search of new horizons, Marcel received a residency grant from the Australian Council for the Arts, moving shortly to Milan to immerse himself into international design culture. In 2007 he moved to London where he worked with both Artek design studio, and until 2011 was Senior Designer at Tom Dixon.
Since 2013, after relocating to Sydney, Marcel began designing for gohome, releasing the Plateau Table range.
